The Rock + Roll Rescue Squad – We’re Here to Help

The Rock + Roll Rescue Squad can help you re-position your business in the current market with music, marketing and service driven solutions. If your brand [Nightclub or Bar] is seeing falling numbers and needs a bit of a lift – we offer a one-stop shop solution to increasing revenue. The service industry is going through an upheaval at the moment and venues must fight for trade and we have the experience to help you win the battle. We can also bring our expertise to brand placement in a crowded market place by combining traditional and more modern methods.

Purveyors of fancy entertainment based solutions since 1994.

The Story so far...

Dublin based promotor and marketeer, Martin Thomas has been involved in the Irish Music scene for 16 years.  Our club nights are varied and influential - nights such as the legendary Strictly Fish, the nations longest running club night - Strictly Handbag [Established 1994], Songs of Praise, The Rattle and Roll Club, Ultra Lounge, The Sunday Matinee and Sassy Sue’s GoGo Inevitable - The Rescue Squad is blessed with the knack of filling empty spaces around the city and identifying up coming trends and gaps in the market. Strictly Fish [Thomas's previous business moniker] ran Europe’s largest dance music radio broadcast for 2FMEurodance - which had over 30million listeners for 5 years in a row. Strictly Fish were heavily involved in the initiation and running of the Red Bull Music Academy for a number of years up until 2002. Our big beat, gold status, homage to the Late Late show theme, ‘To Whom it Concerns’ can still be heard ending many a disco all over the country. Our follow up single was 'The Sunday Game', another cheeky assault on a national institution - The GAA.

The Rescue Squad had lent a helping hand to many of the capitals bars and clubs and further afield - Dublin's RíRá, The Village, The Sugar Club, The Odeon group [Odeon, Dakota, 4 Dame Lane], Bia Bar, The Morrison Hotel, The Life Bar, The Bodega Club in Dún Laoghaire, The Left Bank in Sligo, The Start and Crescent in Drogheda, The Foundry in Carlow and The Purty Loft in Monkstown to name a few.

Brand consultancy and event management has always played a big role in our business and over the years our clients have included Xbox 360, Guinness, Temple Bar Cultural Trust, Diageo, O2, C & C, Red Bull, Smirnoff Vodka, Barry and Fitzwilliam & Richmond Marketing. [More Clients].

Our quirky promotional material has become collectors items and we still are the only promoters in Ireland and the UK to win an ICAD design award. All our graphic design is handled by the wonderful people at Detail.

We are also a favorite of Music Festivals and Bands - We had the pleasure of running the Depeche Mode after-show party after their sell out 2008 Dublin show, have DJed for Oasis backstage at Slane Castle and ran a Songs of Praise Tent at Electric Picnic 2010.

In 2005 we set up the Rock + Roll Karaoke experience that is Songs of Praise in the Village in Dublin – it recently celebrated its 5th birthday with a sell out event. The Rescue Squad’s ongoing long-term relationship with Sherland Entertainments saw Strictly Handbag launch in the Left Bank Bar in Sligo in January 2006. In July 2006 we launched Sassy Sue’s GoGo Inevitable in the Sugar Club in Dublin to re-invigorate Friday Nights around town.

In late 2007 we designed and launched The Bodega Club in Dun Laoghaire for Jay Bourke and The Thomas Read Group. We also celebrated our 13th Birthday for Strictly Handbag with a headline show by Dexy’s Midnight Runner front man, Kevin Rowland. To top it off did an 8 Date college Tour for Songs of Praise to launch Guitar Hero III for Xbox 360.

2008 saw us launch Ireland's first dedicated weekly disco for kids - The Rattle and Roll Club. Songs of Praise turned 3 and held court backstage at the Oxegen Festival for 3 days.

Over the last 2 years the Rescue Squad has endured while most of the independent promoters and consultants were hit by the recession. We have spent the last 10 months repositioning 3 bars in Dublin City and have launched a new club night concept The Beauty Spot. We are currently helping one of the city's oldest and leading casinos re-position itself in a very tough sector, The 78 Casino. We recently worked closely with The Sunday Times to launch The Sunday Times Brunch Club in The Odeon Bar.

The future beckons with The Beauty Spot Live tour and a re-invigorated Rattle & Roll Club rolling out very soon. Watch this space for our new club nights.
