Ultra Lounge was Dublin's first 'Easy Listening' club and
re-introduced the likes of Burt Bacharach and Henry Mancini to Dublin's
Night life - it started off very much as a leopard skin covered, tongue in
cheek poke at the genre, but as it moved forward it became a showcase for
some of Europe's 'nu jazz' sounds.
It was also where
Tubridy Tonight house
band, The Camenbert Quartet played their first residency. It happened in
many venues through out the city including The Da Club, The Chocolate Bar,
The Morrison Hotel and Bia Bar. As the years progressed the sounds changed
from cheese into smooth dance floor jazz. It also saw the debut sets of the likes of Danish DJ Duo,
The Prunes, German label,
Dublex,
Belgium's Buscemi,
Nicola Conté,
Mo Horizons and
Micael Rutten.
It's currently looking for a venue!
