Well, hallelujah!
After a mere two months of providing succour,
salvation and a spiritual home to Dublin's game-for-a-laugh clubbers,
weekly club night Songs Of Praise is now firmly established as the
city's place to go on the Lord's Day for a dose of agnostic action and
unbridled exhibitionism.
The evening's format involves twice-hourly
slots of rock'n'roll karaoke, loosely held together by resident DJs Rory
Montane and Murt spinning a mix of feelgood anthems. If you're up for
belting out a few Bon Jovi, Blondie or Stone Roses numbers on a Sunday
evening, you'll be in the company of some surprisingly talented, as well
as woefully tuneless regulars, plus a smattering of local musos and the
occasional visiting indie band, all singing from the same hymn sheet.
Beat that, Thora Hird.
