King of clubs

Suave clubbers in the city are usually Ultra Lounge fans, while disco divas have grown up with Strictly Fish and Strictly Handbag. If you're lost then perhaps I should explain that these are all different club nights from the Martin Thomas stable. After previous incarnations in McGrattans and the Da Club, Ultra Lounge finally beamed down into the Chocolate Bar on Harcourt Street on Thursday night and was joined by a new Thomas venture, Strictly A Go Go, in the POD.
All the old regulars came along for an evening that came dangerously close to resembling a reunion, with DJ Martin Green over from uber-trendy London club Smashing, and Dublin DJ Dandelion as sartorially stunning as ever. All sorts of groovers from the city were there including model Julien Fallon who is setting up her own agency after years of service with Eddie Shanahan's The Agency; Temple Bar Gallery's Vaari Claffey; Mary McCarthy of Dreamchaser Productions; Radio Ireland's John Kelly and actress Bronagh Gallagher, just back after a two-month run in the West End in London.
Colm Walsh and the mustachioed Fergus Murphy of the Velour team that runs the successful club nights in the Gaiety theatre were there checking out the opposition. The team has recently set up a new design team that might soon be rivalling Jamie Helly and Brian Williams of the ever-dynamic Dynamo Design who have just completed renovating their Ormond Quay offices. Strictly one to go to.
