Andy Lewis, London ace face, DJ, musician and modernist scholar. Lewis
has haunted the bohemian pop art world of the London underground for
over a decade now, strutting the cracked pavements left vacant by the
sixties mod movement. Lewis is inspired not only by the Go Go chic of
the 1960's, but is also very much in love with the present DAY London
metropolis.
Andy is also the man behind London Clubbing Instition " Blow Up".
Among the people lucky enough to get in were various members of the
band Blur, who were so inspired by the mixture of music that they took
Andy on the road with them as support DJ on their era-defining
Parklife tour. Now that Blow Up was hitting the headlines in the
national press, it became inevitable that it would have to move from
its dangerously cramped Camden location, and move it did- to one of
the most famous nightclubs in London, The Wag. In the five years it
was there, Blow Up went from strength to strength, and in spite of the
closure of The Wag in 2001 is still going over ten years after it
started.
He has just released a single with the Modfather too, A certain Mr
Paul Weller, who was impressed enough to offer the services of both
his studio and his incredible voice. He and Andy co-wrote "Are You
Trying To Be Lonely?" which was released in September.
He is one of the main artists on Acid Jazz records too!
Joining high priestess of hip Dandelion, who will be spinning a mix of
6Ts soul and garage, are psycho surf band The Revillions who’s live
set is guaranteed to bring the noise and fill the floor. Also for
your dancing pleasure, Mod urchins The Urges will seize the decks for
a DJ set in Room 2 with our favourite 50's sweetheart, Oona.
All this for a meagre €15.
Bring it on!
