The Man. Where to start? So much to say. Such a long story but with one over-riding theme: a passion for music. A passion that, when he was a nipper, inspired him to make radio shows at home onto tape, drag a transmitter up a hill, crank it up and broadcast it. Picture it. Young Gilles on a hill, pumping out grooves into space. If you build it they will come.

If you believe and pursue, things happen Gilles' passion for the music has brought him through clubs and compilations, radio shows and record labels. Gilles' Talkin' Loud, has been sucking in sounds in from all over the world and getting them back out worldwide. A personal example is Jorge Ben's 'Ponta De Lanca Africano' from Brazilica 2. No matter how many of his albums have been purchased since, there has not been a track by him to match it.

Every time I hear that joyful mash-up of guitars, African beats, Brazilian rhythms and Ben's sweet voice I whisper a little prayer of thanks to Gilles. Every time. Music lives with you always. The tracks you love never desert you. Gilles has made so many of those memories and associations possible. He's never over-stepped the mark. He hasn't sold us out and keeps coming up with new beautiful sounds to share.
