Soul survivor, style chameleon and underground icon with two number one
singles to his name - few musicians have had such chaotic or fascinating
career as Kevin Rowland, founder of Dexy¹s Midnight Runners.
Every body has their very own favourite Kevin Rowland. The post punk union
agitator in a donkey jacket. The smooth soul boy. The raggle taggle urban
gypsy - we have a place in our hearts for all his incarnations - even his
transvestite late nineties phase! And so it occurred to us that this man
must have quite a record collection, and we have just the club for him to
share it...
Kevin Rowland has been making some of Britain's best loved music in a career
spanning the best part of three decades. As the leader and singer of Dexy's
Midnight Runners, Rowland scored two number one hits with "Geno" and the
best selling single of 1982, "Come On Eileen".
Three classic albums later
Rowland disbanded Dexy's and made two solo albums. Rowland reformed Dexys in
2003 for a triumphant UK tour and is currently working on the bands' 4th
album as well as writing his own book.
Well known for his passion and commitment to great music, Rowland's DJ set
promises to be just as soulful and tasteful as his own music has always
been. What can people expect from Kevin? It depends on the night - if it's
for the dance floor you can expect classic soul, pop and funk, right through
to classic Acid House and anything that feels right.
