STRICTLY HANDBAG HEAVEN Vs SONGS OF PRAISE HELL!
THE VILLAGE, WEXFORD ST.

EASTER SUNDAY 23rd MARCH 2008
Dublin Doors 10pm – Late | Adm €10

Two floors for sinners - It's a Bank holiday party you'd pray for.

FEATURING Miss WENDY JAMES [TRANSVISION VAMP/RACINE], Eamonn Barrett, Rory Montane + Sister Barbara

THE ROCK + ROLL RESCUE SQUAD are delighted to announce a Heavenly Handbag special featuring the angelic Miss WENDY JAMES, upstairs at the Village with hellishly good Rock + Roll Karaoke from SONGS of PRAISE down below in the bar.

It's Wendy's first DJ gig in Dublin and her bag contains New York proto-punk and new-wave, rock-a-billy, old-skool hip hop, ska and soul. Support on the night will come from Strictly Handbag resident DJ Eamonn Barret, who'll be playing 80's music with words for your dancing pleasure.

And if that's not enough for ya - expect the usual Sunday night mayhem on the Songs of Praise Stage, with your host sister Barbra and tunes from Rory Montane.

Transvision Vamp and Racine:

Trans Vision Vamp injected a much needed dose of rock n roll into late eighties pop. Wendy's bleach blond bob and pearl pink pout made her a pin-up, but it was her smoke and whisky vocals and punk brat performance that made her a star. Through the early nineties Transvision Vamp had a string of hits including "I Want Your Love" and "Baby I Don't Care" then in '93 when her band split Wendy packed her bags or New York where she worked on the Elvis Costello penned "Now Ain't the Time for Your Tears" After several years of contemplation and re-invention Wendy returned to the scene in 2004 with her band Racine. [Her new album is out now and called - Racine 2]

Get down early for this remarkable bank holiday double header featuring Dublin's two best club nights and special guest Wendy James.
