SASSY SUE'S GO-GO INEVITABLE CELEBRATES IT'S 2ND BIRTHDAY WITH A SPECIAL SCREENING OF QUDROPHENIA WITH AN INTRODUCTION BY IRISH MOD LEGEND IRISH JACK. FOLLOWED BY A NIGHT OF DANCE FLOOR ACTION WITH DJ DANDELION AND FRIENDS.
To celebrate our second birthday and mark the 35th anniversary of the album’s release, Sassy Sue's Go-Go Inevitable presents a special exclusive screening of Quadrophenia with an introduction by Mod Legend, Irish Jack. It was Jack's Mod adventures that inspired Pete Townsend's classic rock opera on which the film was based. He is generally accepted to be the inspiration for the character of Jimmy.
There could be no more fitting or evocative setting than the Sugar Club for a screening of this homage to 60s style and culture. The Sugar Club started it's life as a cinema in the same time period as the film is set, and was lovingly restored in the 90s after years of dereliction. You could literally be in the movie.
After the film Dj Dandelion will be joined on the decks by special guests and friends for a night of classic soul, garage and 60s pop. It promises to be a memorable evening.
The last two years have seen our loyal army of regulars grow and Sassy Sue's is now the only place to be seen on a Friday night. Packed houses freak out under our mirror ball for some truly iconic special guest who have included
Glen Matlock [The Sex Pistols],
Kevin Rowland [Dexy’s Midnight Runners],
Terry Hall [The Specials] and
Will Sergeant [Echo + The Bunnymen]. Along with some of the new bread of artistes with beat sensibilities and psychedelic souls,
The Horrors and the
Go! Team amongst them.
There is a vibe at Sassy Sue's Go-Go Inevitable that exists nowhere else in the country. It's a combination of style and mayhem. And it's as much about the audience as the remarkable space and the music. There are some clubs you just know are different from the second you walk through the door.

IRISH JACK'S STORY.
"Irish Jack" Lyons was one of the praetorian guard that surrounded The Who in their early years. An original member of the legendary mod hang out The Goldhawk Club and both friend and inspiration to Pete Townsend. Jack observed, indulged and took notes on one of the most exciting musical movements in history.
When the time came to make the film of the Who's rock opera detailing the mod experience in mid sixties London Jack was tracked down to act a chief consultant. It's widely understood that the character of Jimmy in the movie is based on Jack back at the height of mod mania. Jack is now living in his native Cork but has stayed in contact with Townsend and is still considered the leading authority on Mod culture and the early history of the Who. He spins a fine yarn, and any chance to hear him speak is not to be missed.
