After five years of legendary Sunday nights in the Village Songs of Praise is moving to Wednesdays. The mid week mayhem kicks off on the 10th of March 2010 just in time for you to warm up your vocal cords for our Paddy's Day celebrations the following week!

So much as we have loved our Sunday night slot; we were growing frustrated with having to kick everyone out at the height of the party, due to Sunday licensing laws. And anyway after half a decade it's time for a change, and Wednesdays need to learn how to rock again.

Songs of Praise started in 2005 as a way to inject some fun into a club culture that was becoming increasingly dull and uptight, two fingers if you will to those who were taking themselves a little too seriously.

Rock + Roll, Punk, alternative Karaoke with DJ Montane wrecking the gaff in-between performances, a simple and somewhat daft plan. All we knew was that we needed somewhere loud to get nuts on Sunday night, and The Village was silly enough to offer us the ideal space to do exactly that.

What happened next was remarkable, joyous and a touch unnerving. Who would have bet that five years on, not only would we still be packing in the lunatics weekly, we would also have taken Songs of Praise on the road for a series of tours, hosted stages at the Trinity Ball and the Oxegen Festival, not to mention put on some pretty special private parties.

Your Hosts, Brothers Declan & Dave

Check out our You Tube page to give ya a good idea of what it’s all about.

But don't think we only have Karaoke. There are our awesome DJs playing alternative tunes and then there is our incomparable hosts, Sister Barbara and Brother Declan. So, this is how we do it, we have 20 minutes of DJ action and then it's over to the, Marshall Stack back dropped, stage for 15 minutes of Rock & Roll Karaoke. So in essence what the audience get is the best of both worlds - big indie and rock classics from the Djs and big indie and rock classics from themselves and their mates. They also get to point the finger and laugh a lot. This is what makes it so special - as sometimes the worst singers are actually the best entertainment - even if lacking in poodle perms and acid washed jeans.

Songs of Praise Rock + Roll Karaoke ventured out from it's home in the Village, teaming up with Xbox for a hugely successful tour in November 2007 the stars of which can be seen here http://ie.youtube.com/songsofpraisetour. The tour rocked so much that we have decided to go on a national tour through March and April of this year.

In Dublin Magazine has "been having some much covert fun. We decided we had to share the fun with you lot", while The Dubliner says it's "Dublin's best karaoke night."

Musical salvation for Sundays. Exorcise your demons with Rock + Roll Karaoke slots throughout the night. Songs of Faith and Devotion from Rory Montane & Murt. All held together with God's glue by Sister Barbara and Brother Declan.
