The VIP area at any festival can often be a sterile zone full of exaggerated shoptalk and limp wristed backslapping. But that all changed when the Rock + Roll Rescue Squad brought Songs of Praise to Oxegen 2008. The time had come to bring Rock + Roll Karaoke to the great outdoors and so it was that we found ourselves part of the festival which was truly one of the best this country has seen, both from the point of line up, friendly atmosphere and organization.

For three long, generally sunny days Sister Barbara strode the Songs of Praise stage like the crazed colossus she is, whipping the assembled VIPs into a frenzy of appreciation and sometimes hysterics. Karaoke performers ranged from the sublime - superstar DJ Mylo and mates singing Salt n Pepa's "Push It" - to the ridiculous - almost everybody else. In between bouts of Karaoke madness DJs Montane and Barrett delivered sonic mallets of rock.

To the organisers, the audience and all those who preformed, we thank you for a legendary weekend.
